Terms and Conditions for car rental on Crete

All guest are kindly required to aggree with the following Terms and Conditions of our company autohire Network. Our company cannot be held responsible if clients are not aware and understood our booking conditions. Please note that we reserve the right to change, modify, update add or remove all or any portion of these Terms of use at any time.

Cross Border - Territorial Restrictions

Cars are not allowed to be driven outside crete

Additional Drivers

All Additional drivers must be physically at rental counter with their own drivers license at time of rental, to sign Rental Agreement.

Driver Licence Requirements

A valid European or International driver’s license is required.

Young Driver Age Restrictions

Minimum age for drivers is 23. Drivers between 21 and 23 will be subject to a young driver’s surcharge. See charge specific to vehicle.

Complaints

All complaints/problems must be received in writing within 30 days of drop off date. We can not entertain complaints received after this period

Local Deposits / Pre-authorizations

A pre-authorization is required for the excess amount of the vehicle. If a pre-authorization is not left then the purchase of additional insurances is mandatory to reduce the excess on the vehicle to zero. If the excess is not reduced to zero a pre-authorization is required for the reduced excess amount.

Condition Of Vehicle

Vehicles must be returned in the same condition. Normal wear and tear is acceptable. Excessive staining or internal damage will be charged for at Rental Agents valet rates.

Flight Information

Please note if you are picking vehicle up from an Airport location, you must supply the correct flight details. Failure to supply correct flight details may lead to nobody waiting at a rental counter to meet you. No refund shall be given in the event incorrect flight details were given.

Payment Conditions

All major credit cards are accepted.

Debit cards are not acceptable at rental counter.

Rental Counter Identification

The Renter must produce a valid driver’s license and credit card

Car Type/Suitability

Autohire Car Rentals are unable to guarantee a particular make, model or fuel type of car. The car shown on your voucher is for guidance only and may be substituted for an alternative, similar or upgraded car (at no extra cost) at our option. If it becomes impossible to provide your booked car due to breakdown or an accident, a similar or upgraded car will be provided.

Airport - Location Fee

This is included in the online quote.

Delivery / Collection

Delivery to the airport is free of charge.

Foreign Exchange Rates

All rates are only converted and payable in local currency. We are not responsible for fluctuation of currencies.

Voucher

You must present your Voucher on arrival. Failure to give your Voucher, means we can not be held responsible for any additional charges.

Conditions Applicable:

1: The due observance and fulfillment of all the terms and conditions of this insurance by the Insured Persons or anyone acting on their behalf in so far as they relate to anything to be done or complied with by the Insured Person or anyone acting on their behalf shall be a condition precedent to any liability of the Insurers to make payment under this Policy.

2: Written notice of accidents, proceedings or any other events that may give rise to a claim shall be given to the Claims Office in writing within 31 days. All Certificates, information and evidence required by the Claims Office shall be furnished at the expense of the Insured Person or their legal representatives.

3: Except with the written consent of the Insurers, no person is entitled to admit liability on their behalf or to give any representations or other undertakings binding upon them. The Insurer shall be entitled to the absolute conduct, control and settlement of all proceedings arising out of or in connection with claims in the name of the Insured Person.

4: The Insurers may at their own expense take proceedings in the name of the Insured Person to recover compensation from any Third Party in respect of any indemnity provided under this Insurance and any amounts so recovered shall belong to the Insurers and the Insured Person shall render all reasonable assistance to the Insurers.

5: All claims hereunder shall be governed by the laws of England & Wales whose courts alone shall have jurisdiction in any dispute arising under this insurance.

6: All Insured Persons must hold a valid driving licence, or hold a full internationally recognized licence.

Warranty

Cover is provided for one Rental Vehicle at any one time which may be driven and operated by any of the Insured Persons as detailed on the Rental Agreement. Cover will take effect from the time the Insured Person takes legal control of the Rental vehicle and will cease at the time the Rental Company assumes control of the Rental Vehicle whether at its Business location or elsewhere.

This policy must have been purchased and have commenced, either prior to or to coincide with, the commencement date of a Rental Agreement for which the Insured wishes this Cover to be operative.

Definitions:

"Rental Vehicle" means any automobile rented under a contract on a daily or weekly basis from such a rental Company or Agency, which must be fully licensed with the regulatory authority of that Country, State or Local Authority.

"Insured Person(s)" means the lead contracting person named on this policy who must be the person named as the main driver in the Car Rental Agreement and is eligible to operate and drive the Rental Vehicle and who is aged between 21 and 74 years old and any of the persons specified on the Car Rental Agreement.

"Car Rental Agreement" means the contract signed by the lead named driver (who must be the name on the Policy Document as issued) that states the excess to which the lead named driver is responsible

“Close Relative” means spouse or partner, parents, parents–in-law, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, adult child or fiancé.

Collision Damage and Theft Waiver Exclusions and Refundable Excess Insurance (RFDW) Cover

If you hire a car through AUTOHIRE Car Rentals we waive, in most circumstances (see exclusions below) your liability to pay for any damage caused to the vehicle during the period of hire, subject only to the payment by you of a charge, referred to as an "excess" (unless you are advised that this is not applicable at the time of booking). Your liability for the damage will be limited to the cost of the excess. We call this contractual waiver “Collision Damage Waiver” or “CDW”. CDW is subject to certain exclusions which include, without limit, when damage is caused to windows/windscreens, wheels and tires, the underside or roof of the car or where the vehicle is driven off-road or on un-tarmarked roads, without due care and attention, negligently or where the driver is under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. Your liability to pay for the damage will therefore not be waived in these circumstances and you may be liable for the full cost However, please be aware that even with this product you will still have to compensate the car rental partner for damage which falls within one of the exclusions identified above. Please select this cover when booking your car either online or via our call-centre. Please note, you will still be required to leave a deposit on the pick-up of your vehicle.

Theft Waiver (also known as Theft Protection) provides coverage for theft or attempted theft, of the vehicle up to the full value of the vehicle and any loss that our car rental partner may incur. You are responsible for the excess of each claim, which you will be required to pay as part of the overall excess deposit (unless you are advised that this is not applicable at the time of booking). Your loss will be limited provided the vehicle is used and its keys returned in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of the rental agreement.

All vehicles have CDW and Theft Insurance automatically included in our rates. Additional Insurances can be viewed against the specific vehicles
